Description:
Galactose is a monosaccharide composed of six carbons and one aldehyde, classified as aldose and hexose. Both D-galactose and L-galactose are naturally occurring. D-galactose is generally present in milk as a structural part of lactose, and lactose in milk is broken down into glucose and galactose by the body. It is mainly used for chemical synthesis of IPTG and D-Tagatose.
